About the competition

GCC Skills will host GCC Skills Abu Dhabi 2008, the first regional vocational skills competition to showcase the work and skill of vocational education students in Creative Arts, Fashion, Social and Personal Service delivery. Abu Dhabi 2008 will take place

The goals of the competition are to:

• Encourage current students to complete their vocational training
• Encourage innovation and excellence
• Encourage vocational education students to excel in their chosen vocation
• Enhance the standards for vocational training throughout the Gulf region
• Exchange ideas, techniques and ideas that promote or facilitate vocational education
• Assist GCC students in qualifying for prestigious international vocational education competitions sponsored by World Skills International

Any vocational education student from a GCC member country who has not yet reached the age of 22 at the start of the competition is eligible to participate in GCC Skills Abu Dhabi 2008, but must be nominated to compete on behalf of the Member organization. Each member will designate one competitor in each skill category. No competitions will be held for skill categories that have fewer than four competitors.

Members are invited to designate a single contestant for each of the following official skill categories recognized by World Skills International and offered at GCC Skills Abu Dhabi 2008:

• Automobile Technology
• Refrigeration
• Graphic Design Technology
